Canon PIXMA TS3351 Review– The TS3351 is one of the most affordable multifunction printers we’ve ever seen. It may not be the fastest printer we’ve tested, but it manages to provide a good range of printing and connectivity features that make it a versatile option for home users and students who need to print photos, reports, and other documents.
Canon Pixma TS3351 Price
The model we are reviewing here is called “TS3351 Black ” And we originally thought it was just a basic black and white printer. But it only refers to the color of the printer itself – which is also available in white (TS3351) and Red (TS3352).
And it turns out that the TS3351 MkII really provides a full-color multifunction printer, with scanner and copier features for trading – the basement price is just £39.99. It is available from both Canon and Amazon.
For some reason, however, the US version is called the TS3320 and has a slightly higher price of $79, but Amazon has a red color for $49, and it’s only $39 from Canon.
Canon Pixma TS3351 Design
Despite its low cost, the TS3351 MkII is a versatile, multifunctional color beam printer that delivers impressive resolution 1200x4800dpi printing. A flatbed scanner is more modest, with only 600x1200dpi resolution, but it still needs to be sufficient to scan random documents or photos for school reports.
It has a 60-sheet rear paper tray and can print to a wide range of documents and other media, including Canon’s unusual, square 5x5in photo documents and stickers. The connection is also great for such cheap printers as USB and Wi-Fi as well as AirPrint for Apple mobile devices and Google Cloud printing for Android.
Canon also provides its own printable software that provides more detailed controls for printing and scanning, and there is also a selection of additional software, including a simple photo editor, which is free to download when installing the main printer driver.
However, there are some signs of cost reduction. When switching between different paper types, we found that we had to specify a new paper size in both the printer driver on our laptop and on the printer itself – which meant a loaf of a small 1.5 in the control screen as we repeatedly tapped the button to switch through different paper settings.
There is no automatic two-sided (two-sided) printing, and no SD card slot to print from a memory card either. Even so, it’s less to shake, given the highly competitive price of the printer, and it can certainly deal with most of the types of documents and creative projects that you throw at it.
Canon Pixma TS3351 Performance
The high-resolution TS3351 MkII ensures that it provides good quality for text, graphics, and photos. The text output is particularly sharp and sharp, and can really give a laser printer a run for its money.
This isn’t very fast, with Canon citing mono output at 7.7 pages per minute (PPM), while our tests actually approached all 6ppm. Regardless, it’s great for occasional use at home when you just print letters or other text documents every once in a while.
Color printing is also very good for such a cheap printer, with bold, strong color and a sharp eye for detail. The contrast may be a little clear, perhaps, but it’s a lot to ask for a printer that costs less than £40, and the TS3351 will be great for printing selfies, or multiple charts and charts for a school report.
Color printing is pretty slow though, with our tests providing speed of just 3ppm, compared to Canon’s already modest quoted speed of 4ppm. And a 4x6in postcard print took a full two minutes to print, so the TS3351 is highly-designed for just occasional use at home rather than spitting the page after the page every day.
Canon Pixma TS3351 Current Costs
As is often the case, cheap printers like the TS3351 MkII can surprise you with an unpleasant sting in your tail when it came time to buy a replacement ink cartridge. This is very much when it comes to the TS3351, especially if you buy the smallest, standard-size cartridges.
The TS3351 uses only two ink cartridges—one for the black color, and a ” Tri-color ” cartridge containing all three colored inks (cyan, magenta, and yellow). The standard size of cartridges is £15.49 for black ink and £19.49 for a Tri-color cartridge. Both cartridges last just 180 pages each, running at a whopping 8.6p for mono printing and a just-acceptable 10.8p for color.
